Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan’s ‘Dangal’ created a sensation at the overseas box office by grossing more than $100 million until now at the ticket window. The film grossed Rs 201.5 crores from the overseas box office in the first phase of its release on December 23rd, 2016, which is $31.45 million.
On March 24th, Nitesh Tiwari’s directional project released in Taiwan, where it grossed $3.3 million approximately till date. In Taiwan Capital city, Taipei alone, the movie grossed $1.88 million till date at the box office.
While the film released in China on May 5th and it is unstoppable at the Chinese box office even after the end of its second-weekend run. On second Tuesday, the film grossed $2.42 million as of 7:30 PM CST, taking the total China collection till date to $67.80 million.
Overall, Aamir Khan – Nitesh Tiwari’s wrestling drama grossed $102.55 million approximately from the International markets till date and ‘Dangal’ is the first Indian movie to surpass $100 million mark at the overseas box office.
On the other hand, the movie minted only Rs 542.5 crores gross from the domestic market, which is less than the overseas collection of the film, where it grossed Rs 657.1 crores.
Most importantly the phenomenal business at the Chinese box office of $67.80 million contributed for huge success of ‘Dangal’ movie in the International markets.
