Vidya Balan’s ‘Begum Jaan’, which released on April 14th, opened up with mixed reviews from the critics and the general public. As the film has limited appeal, the movie performed moderately in its opening weekend by minting Rs 16.07 crores gross from the domestic market and Rs 0.74 crore from the overseas market.
However, the film saw a huge drop in collections from Monday onwards, where it minted Rs 1.87 crores nett on the 4th day of its release and Rs 1.59 crores nett on Tuesday, taking total 5 days India collection of ‘Begum Jaan’ to Rs 14.94 crores nett and Rs 20.91 crores gross. On the other hand, the movie grossed Rs 0.92 crores from the overseas market in its 5 days run.
Overall, Srijit Mukherjee directional project ‘Begum Jaan’ grossed Rs 21.83 crores with a share amount close to Rs 11.85 crores in its 5 days run at the worldwide box office.
Considering the film’s limited budget of Rs 15 crores, it is a good performance for Vidya Balan’s ‘Begum Jaan’ until now at the ticket window.
The movie has Naseeruddin Shah, Ila Arun, Gauahar Khan, Pallavi Sharda, Rajit Kapoor, Ashish Vidyarthi playing crucial roles and it is produced by Mukesh Bhatt, Vishesh Bhatt and Play Entertainment along with Sakshi Bhatt and Shree Venkatesh Films.
