Prithviraj Sukumaran’s thriller-drama ‘Tiyaan’ completed its first-weekend run with decent collections at the box office despite mixed reviews for the film. The film raked Rs 2.46 crores approximately from the Kerela box office on Sunday, taking the total 3 days Kerela box office collection to Rs 7.31 crores gross with a distributor share amount of Rs 3.50 crores approximately.
In the Kochi Multiplexes, Jiyen Krishnakumar’s directional project raked Rs 6.62 lakhs on Sunday with a good occupancy of 57.65%, taking the total three days collection to Rs 22.49 lakhs gross.
Made on a budget of Rs 17 crores including prints and publicity, Prithviraj – Jiyen Krishnakumar’s ‘Tiyaan’ recovered Rs 5.20 crores from the satellite rights and it needs to mint Rs 11.80 crores from theatrical run to make it as a safe venture for the filmmakers. As the film earned Rs 3.50 crores distributor share from the Kerela markets in its three days run, ‘Tiyaan’ still needs to earn Rs 8.30 crores to reach its break-even amount for the filmmakers.
However, with mixed reports for the movie, we need to wait and see how the film fares at the ticket window from today onwards in weekdays.
