Prithviraj Sukumaran’s thriller-drama ‘Tiyaan’ failed to sustain at the box office in weekdays after enjoying a decent run in its opening weekend. The film raked Rs 76 lakhs gross approximately from the Kerela box office on Tuesday, taking the total 5 days box office collection of ‘Tiyaan’ to Rs 8.79 crores approximately with a distributor share amount of Rs 4.26 crores approximately.
In the Kochi Multiplexes, Jiyen Krishnakumar’s directional project raked Rs 2.57 lakhs on Tuesday with a poor occupancy of 28%, taking the total collection to Rs 27.55 lakhs gross.
As the movie was made on a budget of Rs 17 crores, ‘Tiyaan’ needs to mint Rs 11.80 crores from its theatrical run to remain as a safe venture for the filmmakers as the movie’s satellite rights fetched Rs 5.20 crores. With film earning Rs 4.26 crores from its five days run in the Kerela, it still needs to mint Rs 7.54 crores to reach its break-even amount.
However, with below-par performance on weekdays, ‘Tiyaan’ is going to end its first-week run at the box office by minting around Rs 10 to 11 crores gross, which is going to be a poor performance considering the high costs involved for the film.
