BlackBerry recently announced that it had entered into a long-term licensing agreement with China-based TCL Communication to manufacture smartphones. A 4-second teaser video has been posted by Steve Cistulli, who is President and General Manager for TCL Communication (TCT), North America. “imPRESSively designed. distinctly different. #BlackBerryMobile #CES2017,” reads the tweet.
According to the teaser, the smartphone will have BlackBerry’s iconic QWERTY keyboard. Talking about the design, the recently leaked photos of the smartphone have hinted that the fingerprint sensor will be integrated within the keyboard.
Blackberry Mercury aka DTEK70 is expected to feature a 4.5-inch curved screen. At the heart, the DTEK70 is expected to run Qualcomm s Snapdragon 821 quad-core processor, however, an earlier rumor suggests that the smartphone will come with Snapdragon 625 SoC instead. It is said to be paired with 3GB of RAM. In the photography department, it is expected to come with an 18-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel selfie camera. It will be armed with a 3,400mAh battery. On the software front, the smartphone will run Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box.
BlackBerry has already announced that its next-generation smartphones will be showcased at CES 2017, scheduled to take place between January 5-8 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
