Superstar Rajinikanth – Akshay Kumar’s most awaited film ‘Robo 2.0’ is slated for release on January 25th, 2018. The film completed its shoot a while ago and post-production works are in full swing. As the film is being made on a budget of Rs 400 crores, which is the biggest budgeted Indian film till date, there is huge curiosity about the film among the audience and the Trade circles.
Now, it was known that the Telugu theatrical rights of Shankar’s directional project were sold to Global Cinema for a whopping amount of Rs 90 crores (Rs 81 crores rights + 9 cr GST), which is an unbelievable price for this science-fiction thriller in the Telugu states. Previously, the first installment of Robo, which released in 2010 minted Rs 37 crores share at the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana markets in its closing run. Now, the second installment Robo 2.0 need to collect above Rs 90 crores share to remain as a safe venture for the distributors.
On the other hand, Global Cinemas which acquired the Theatrical rights for Rs 90 crores might also sell the rights area-wise making the target, even more, higher for the film during the release.
Starring Amy Jackson in the female lead role, the film has composed by A R Rahman and it is bankrolled under Lyca Productions banner.
